About Us
Shell Harbour City General Practice opened it's doors on the 4th August 2008. It is situated in Shelharbour City Centre overlooking the Escarpment and Lake Illawarra. It brings to the City a bright,fresh and friendly environment where people of all ages can come for medical care.
The practice is the inspiration of Dr R.Selvarajah who has served the local community for the past 20years.
Dr M. Raza who immigrated from Pakistan has been working in the local community for three years.
There are 6 consulting rooms and one treatment room.
We are working alongside Wollongong University training Medical Students.

Monday - Fridays 8.30am -6.30pm
Saturday - 8.30am -1pm
Sunday - 9.00 am - 1.00 pm
Home Visits are available for regular patients who either live in the Nursing Home or whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery.
Emergencies - please dial "000" for an ambulance or visit your nearest Accident and Emergency Department.

Fees
Shellharbour City General Practice is a bulk billing Practice. So when you visit all you need to do is bring your Medicare Card,and if applicable your HCC,Pension Card, or Veteran Affairs Card. If you are not registered with Medicare there will be a general fee of $35.00 plus any additional costs for treatment that may also have a Medicare charge.
Some examinations are not covered by Medicare eg medicals for work. Please ask receptionist for fees involved.
Workers compensation, Third Party and Public Liability cases will be billed to the Insurer.
Appointments
Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time. However emergencies will be given priority and reception staff will attempt to notify you should there be any long delays or if Doctor is called away.
Please let the reception staff know if you require a longer consultation.
Reminder System
Our Practice is comitted to preventative care. Your doctor will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care.hould you not wish to be part of this system please let your doctor or receptionist know.

- Variety of Health Assessments / plans - 75years and over, 45 - 49 year, care plans,diabetic and asthma checks, mental health plans, 4 year old children's check, full medical check ups.
- Pre employment, Workers Compensation, Third Party, Public Liability
- Quit smoking advice weight reduction program.
- ECG (heart checks) Spirometry ( lung tests)
- INR Testing
- Pregancy Testing
- Pap smears
- Travel Overseas - advice & vaccinations
- Children's Immunisation
- Wound Care ,Skin checks,
- Minor Surgery (removal of warts, moles,skin lesions, ingrown toenail surgery). Cryotherapy (freezing of skin conditions)
- Drainage of abscess/ haematoma
- Intra articular ( joint ) injections
- Implanon insertion( contraceptive rod)
All instruments used during a procedure are either single use disposable or autoclaved to prescribed standards.
Repeat Prescriptions and Referrals.
Patients will need to see a Doctor for these to be issued. Unless you have already seen a Doctor in the proceeeding two weeks.
Results
Doctor will advice you as to when results are expected to be available.
As a general rule please make an appointment to discuss results.
We will also contact you to let you know if you need to make an appointment to discuss your results. Privacy Policy prevents staff from discussing results over the phone.
Reminder Systems
To continue ongoing care we have a reminder system, which may from time to time issue you with a reminder notice for health services appropriate to your care.
Managing Your Personal Records
Medical records are confidential. It is the Practice policy to ensure that only authorised staff have access to records. Records are stored in the computer for security reasons all files are backed up daily,weekly and then monthly.
We would like your visits to the practice to be as pleasant as possible. Should you for any reason have a concern or idea then please speak to your doctor or any of the receptionist staff. Alternatively you may like to write to us. We take concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously and will reply to you with an explanation or how we will address any issue that is raised.
